What is FTP?

The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard communication protocol used for the transfer of files from a server to a client on a computer network.

How we work together:

Our FTP/SFTP Data Source connector opens up new routes to keep your forms2 Data Sources up to date. Securely import new data from Excel or CSV files on a manual or scheduled basis. A great way to use data stored in legacy systems and non cloud based systems.

Our FTP/SFTP Form connector can store data entries directly to your FTP server when they are submitted. Create documents in a variety of formats including CSV, Text and Word. All with custom or dynamic filenames and folder paths.

Data Source Use Cases

  • Set a schedule to import a daily list of engineering jobs to be completed, including site ID, job ID, customer name, engineer name and job details. Use a Listing Screen to display the contents of the data source and filter the results based on the engineer name to ensure the user only sees jobs assigned to them. Tapping on a job will open a Data Entry screen for the engineer to complete the job at the customer site.
  • Set a schedule to import a list or parts required for today’s jobs, including part number barcode, job ID and machine ID. Using a Data Entry screen with a filtered Choices Field to display only the parts required for the current job, the engineer can scan the barcode of the part and mark it as used within the form.

Data Delivery Use Cases

  • Save a CSV file for each completed job. Dynamically specify the folder name based upon the Job ID, and include all captured fields as part of the CSV file. Use a legacy on-premise software solution to import each job for reporting and analysis.
  • Save an Excel sheet for each job completed that contains a list of parts used. Specify a fixed folder path for storing the document so it can be imported into an on-premise stock reordering system.
  • Use our FTP Form Connector to store data in CSV, excel, JSON, PDF, Text File, Word, XML file formats.
